Taolanaro /Fort-Dauphin
Taolanaro
lies in the extreme south-east of Madagascar. It is rather difficult to
access by car; the road from Antananarivo (via Ihosy) or Toliara is not
very good and only recommended for adventurers with lots of time. Other
visitors will prefer flying from either Tana or Toliara.
Taolanaro is beautifully located, with wonderful beaches
and in the background the central highland mountain chain that abruptly
drops towards the Indian Ocean.
Many excursions are possible.
The most
favourite excursion is a trip (80 km) to the BERENTY Park.
There, you can admire from close distance all kinds of lemurs
...
...and the huge sisal plantation in the middle of the caracteristic thorny vegetation of the south.
